This is a adaptation of a few different recipes and techniques to enjoy the flavorful pork belly with a sweet and sticky asian BBQ sauce.
1-2 Pounds pork belly strips
2 Tbsp Chinese 5 spice powder
2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
Chinese BBQ Sauce (recipe link)
This is a 2 step process
Heat oven to 300F / 150C
Toss the pork belly with the Chinese 5 spice powder and soy sauce
Wrap pork belly strips in a double layer of foil, creating a closed pouch.
Place pouch on baking sheet
Bake for 2 hrs.
Heat oven on Broil (or heat BBQ grill)
Line a new baking sheet with foil
Carefully open the foil pouch and carefully transfer the pork belly strips to the new sheet pan.
Baste the pork strips with the Chinese BBQ sauce
Place beneath broiler till BBQ sauce bubble
Remove from oven, baste again, and repeat step 5 till the pork is sticky and gooey with the BBQ sauce
I like to serve the pork cut into chunks on top of a warm bowl of rice with tangy pickled vegetable with a little extra Chinese BBQ sauce drizzled over the top.
